Baa Atoll-Mombai-Muscat

After another great breakfast we hop on the boat that brings us to Dharavandhoo airport. The whole crew is expecting us already and after a friendly good-bye we fly to Malé to get fuel and clear immigration. Again the handling is far from efficient and we lose quite some time. A four hour leg to Mumbai where we fill up the plane again. Also here it takes longer than thought. After another four hours we reach Oman; Arabia here we come!read more...

Colombo-Baa Atoll

Nice breakfast in this really cool hotel. We drive to airport in rush hour - but going the other way. A big delegation is waiting for us, clears us very efficiently and the chief of air traffic control (a lady!) shows us where it all happens! We are up in the air soon and within 1 1/2 hours we land in Malé. Here we have to clear customs which...read more...

Dhaka-Colombo

25 minutes to check out of hotel but smooth ride to airport and in the air on time. Dhaka airport is something special; but our handlers do a great job. They are worth every Dollar; just to get us through all the controls!! Long flight to Colombo where we have a reception committee of 16 people; actually 22 in the end. But everybody is very friendly and helpful - looks like we are in a Buddhist country again. After a fairly long drive...read more...

Bagan-Dhaka

Again a whole army of people greets us at the airport. But everything is efficient (thank you Julie) and we are airborne almost on time. The pilots are having fun on the radio with Dhaka and the ride gets pretty bumpy due to thunderstorms. But all fine and we land on time. On time is also the rain when we have to fuel. We are out of the airport soon and experience Dhaka’s biggest attraction on the way to the hotel: traffic jam!!read more...

Bagan

Today is a special day: exploring the temples of Bagan on a mountain bike. To escape the heat we have to start at 07.00h. After a nice breakfast buffet we get picked up by our guide and drive to the office of Grasshopper Adventure where we get our bikes.read more...

Paro-Bagan

Before we leave the hotel, a local monk is doing a ceremony for us to protect us on our further travel and life. At the airport, all smooth sailing except some delay to technical issues. The take-off is fantastic, demanding on the pilots, again flying through the valley. Flying over the plains of India and Bangladesh to Myanmar. Here we reach our most Eastern point of our journey.read more...
